The LOW wants to be a family for the young adults that are aging out of the foster system. At 18 years old, if the youth has not been placed with a family or in a program, they are considered independent and sent to live on their own. In the first 48 hours, 55% of these individuals become homeless, trafficked, addicted to drugs…grim statistics. But let’s focus on the solution. Through a one year program, we can give the opportunity to have a home, training in a vocational skill, and a promise of a career after the program. More importantly, we can surround these individuals with love, leadership, and guidance, setting the foundation for their next chapter of independence.
We can’t change their past, but we sure can change their future. Let us invest in their next chapter.
